BECOME A BOARD MEMBER
Concerned Friends of Ontario Citizens in Care Facilities is seeking nominees for its Board of Directors who are committed to advancing the health and well-being and enriching the experiences of those living in long- term care homes across Ontario. Making real and lasting change requires the contribution of time, expertise, and commitment – now is an exciting time to be part of that change.
As a volunteer-run registered charity we are currently recruiting two (2) individuals to join our Board who have a strong sense of volunteerism, are looking to play a leadership role in the communities we serve, and who have an active interest in the long-term care sector. Board members must be a member in good standing of Concerned Friends and will be elected at our Annual General Meeting on October 7, 2021.
Board members are responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership based on the vision and mission of the organization, including establishing the long-term direction;
- Monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of the strategic plan;
- Overseeing the financial health of the organization;
- Acting as a positive and passionate advocate for Concerned Friends both in the board room and out in the community;
- Keeping informed about the organization, its issues, and its connection to the community through active participation.
Time Commitment: Board members are expected to attend bi-monthly board meetings that take place via Zoom the first Thursday of the month from 7-9 pm, committing approximately four hours a month plus meeting preparation time. Board members hold a two-year term, renewable up to three times. During that term, board members are asked to participate on at least one committee and to actively work on their committee projects to ensure activities are proceeding according to schedules.
How to Apply: As an organization we strive for our Board to be representative of the rich diversity of voices in all ways. Previous board and policy experience will be strong assets to the position.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS WANTED
Concerned Friends Board of Directors are seeking Committee members who have a strong sense of volunteerism, who play a leadership role in the communities we serve, and who demonstrate knowledge and an active interest in the long-term care sector. Making real and lasting change requires the contributions, expertise, and commitment of everyone – now is an exciting time to be part of that change. We are currently recruiting members for the following committees which report to the Board of Directors:
Communications – Responsible for developing annual communications strategy including print and social media platforms. 4 members – meets quarterly.
Membership – Responsible for developing strategies to increase recruitment and retention. 4 members – meets twice a year.
Committee Members are appointed by the Board and are eligible to remain on a committee for one year, after which time they may be reappointed or resign. Committee members are active volunteers and will require a time commitment outside of regular meetings.
