A thank-you to our special donors

September 2008- Concerned Friends is very fortunate to have recently received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Geoffrey H. Wood Foundation to assist us in raising the profile of our organization and improve our capacity to carry out our mandate. The Geoffrey H. Wood Foundation strives to enhance the quality of human life by supporting projects that “provoke positive change and have a lasting effect on the lives of the people they touch.”

Its financial support will enable us to move forward with plans to improve our information technology in areas such as our website, storage of data (e.g. compliance review reports), as well as exploring ways to develop more sustainable core funding bases. We are very grateful to be chosen by the Wood Foundation for this grant.

We are also very pleased to be the recipients a beautiful handmade quilt “Stepping into the Garden,” created and donated to us by the York Heritage Quilters Guild (see photo on page 2). The Guild is a nonprofit organization whose members meet monthly to share and enhance their knowledge of quilting. As well as inspiring quilters and preserving the art of quilting, the Guild supports worthwhile charitable activities in the community. We are most grateful that they are supporting Concerned Friends by their donation of this quilt to assist us in raising funds. The quilt will be raffled off at our annual general meeting on November 13, 2008.
