30th Anniversary Celebration a Resounding Success! December 2010- Concerned Friends celebrated its 30th anniversary with a very special annual general meeting held at the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto . A highlight of the meeting was the guest speaker, the renowned health policy analyst, Dr. Michael Rachlis. Dr. Rachlis spoke about the sustainability of our health care system especially as it relates to older adults. (See related article: Quality Health Care Attainable and Sustainable in Canada on this website.) His timely presentation was most interesting and inspired perceptive questions from the audience. The 75 plus guests also partook of an array of delicious hors d'oeuvres and an amazing anniversary carrot cake, courtesy of the Latvian Centre kitchen. We were pleased to welcome the Honourable Phil McNeely, parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Health and Long-term Care, who brought greetings from Minister Deb Matthews. It was heart-warming to have such a supportive audience join us in celebrating our 30 years of advocacy to improve the long-term care homes system, and wishes for our continued success! |
