Family Council Day June 12, 2010 June 2010- For the first time, family councils are being encouraged to participate in Family Council Day events in their communities. A workgroup of family council members and family council network members has been working with Family Councils' Program staff on plans to help family councils across the province with community events for June 12, 2010, Family Council Day. The theme of the inaugural Family Council Day is Learn About Living Life In Long-Term Care! The target audience is the general public. The aim is to promote and celebrate the work of family councils before folks need long-term care. With the Family Council Day Workgroup, the Family Councils' Program staff has been developing materials to assist family councils in planning events, celebrations and information sharing in their communities. Since June is Seniors' Month, it is fitting that this day is part of the focus. The local activities are the first step towards the goal of having official recognition by the Ontario Government for a proclaimed Family Council Day. |
